Passion Projects

Projects I’ve worked on outside of the scope of my full-time job

Client: University of Washington Master’s course
Timeframe:
June, 2023
Team: 2 UX Researchers

Intersectionality & UXR

As part of an MHCID course, I worked with a partner to create a guide on how to apply the Intersectional Framework to industry UX research. Our goal is to build awareness of diverse user perspectives that arise from the intersection of different identity factors (such as race, gender, social class, etc.) and help UXRs fold them into their research.

Community Involvement

Bay Area Middle School Mentorship

Client: Spark Bay Area - Mentorship Program
Timeframe: Feb. - May 2021
Team: 2 Capital One employees, 1 Meta employee

I volunteered as a mentor with Spark Bay Area, a nonprofit focused on supporting middle school students in low-income areas. I mentored 2 KIPP Valiant 7th graders to help them explore their passion for art and storytelling. I connected them with a Disney animator so they could learn about a profession in animation and worked with them on a final project where they wrote a movie script to develop their story-telling skills.

Consumer Credit Counseling: Pro Bono UXR Project

Client: Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) of Rochester
Timeframe: Aug. - Oct. 2021
Team: 1 UXR (me), 2 Product Managers, 1 Project Manager

I volunteered as part of Capital One’s Pro Bono program to work with the CCCS of Rochester to improve customer engagement in their debt management service. I moderated associate interviews and synthesized findings to create a Client Journey Map and short & long-term recommendations for improvement.

Company: Capital One (C1)
Timeframe: May 2022

Commitment to Sustainability

As an active member of both the C1 Green Team and AAPI Business Resource Group (Origins), I took on the role of Sustainability Liaison to advise Origins on how to make their events more eco-friendly. I created a guide for any Origins event planner to consult on details ranging from swag to catering.

As this was an internal document, I cannot share the guide due to confidentiality. However, you can check out an article detailing my involvement with the C1 Green Team below.
